Reversal

Definition

A reversal is a new entry that cancels an earlier entry, with the same amounts and the debits and credits swapped. Posted entries are never edited, so a reversal is how a correction is made. The original and its reversal both stay in the books.

Example. An invoice of €500 posted to the wrong account is corrected by a reversal of €500 and a new entry to the right account.

Why it matters for your company

Sapita never edits a posted entry, which keeps the trail reliable. A reversal and a new entry show exactly what was corrected and when.

Where you see it in Sapita
