KMD
Definition
KMD is the VAT return that a registered company files with EMTA, usually each month. It adds up the output VAT and the input VAT for the period and shows the amount to pay or to reclaim. It is due on the 20th of the month after the period.
Example. The VAT return for March is due on 20 April. It shows €1,800 of output VAT and €600 of input VAT, so €1,200 is to pay.
Why it matters for your company
The KMD is the main monthly filing for a VAT-registered company. Mistakes in it are a common reason for late payment interest.
