Allocation
Definition
An allocation links a payment to the invoice or invoices it pays. One payment can cover several invoices, and one invoice can be paid by several payments. Allocations show exactly which money settled which invoice.
Example. A €1,500 payment from a customer is allocated €1,000 to invoice 2026-010 and €500 to invoice 2026-011.
Why it matters for your company
Customers often pay several invoices in one transfer, or pay one invoice in parts. Allocation tells Sapita which invoice each euro belongs to, so the receivables and the overdue list stay right.
Where you see it in Sapita
On a payment you match to sales invoices, and in the receivables view that shows what is still open.
