Invoice number

Definition

An invoice number identifies a sales invoice. The numbers follow each other in order, with a prefix that stays the same, so that no number is skipped or reused. Once the first invoice exists, the prefix and the starting number are locked.

Example. Invoices numbered 2026-001, 2026-002 and 2026-003 follow in order. The next invoice is 2026-004.

Why it matters for your company

Estonian rules expect sales invoices to be numbered in sequence. Gaps and duplicates are easy to spot and make your books harder to trust.

Where you see it in Sapita

On each sales invoice, in the number field that Sapita fills in when you create the invoice.
