Chart of accounts
Definition
The chart of accounts is the numbered list of every account the company uses. Accounts are grouped as assets, liabilities, equity, income and expenses. The reports add up the accounts by group.
Example. An account numbered for bank balances, one for sales income and one for office expenses are three lines in the chart.
Why it matters for your company
Every entry in your books goes to an account. A tidy chart means your reports are readable and your VAT and annual report figures land in the right lines.
Where you see it in Sapita
In the ledger and in the settings, where each account has a number and a name you can see.
