OÜ

Definition

An OÜ is a private limited company, the most common company form in Estonia for a small business. Its owners are liable only up to the value of their shares, and it has a registry code and a board that runs it.

Example. A founder who owns an OÜ with €2,500 of share capital is liable for the company's debts only up to the amount of the shares.

Why it matters for your company

Most small Estonian businesses, including those run by e-Residents, are OÜs. Knowing the company form explains the annual report, the share capital and the dividend rules that follow.

Where you see it in Sapita

In the company details on the settings screen, and in the header of each invoice.
