VAT number

Definition

A VAT number identifies a VAT-registered business. Estonian VAT numbers start with EE followed by nine digits. You need the VAT number of a customer for some sales, such as a reverse-charge sale, and you show your own on your invoices.

Example. A customer's VAT number of EE123456789 is written on the invoice for a reverse-charge sale.

Why it matters for your company

A valid VAT number is needed for many sales to other EU businesses, where the reverse charge can apply. Checking it protects you when the rules change the VAT on the invoice.

Where you see it in Sapita

In the sales invoice header and the customer details, where the VAT number is stored.
