OSS
Definition
OSS, the One-Stop Shop, is the EU scheme for selling to consumers in other EU countries. A business registered for it reports and pays the VAT for those sales in one return, instead of in each country. The return is quarterly.
Example. A consumer in Germany pays €100 for a download from an Estonian company. The company reports the German VAT in its OSS return for the quarter.
Why it matters for your company
Selling to consumers in other EU countries brings VAT in their country. OSS lets you report all of it in one quarterly return instead of registering in each country.
